HOLY ANGELS SCHOOL

Dear Parents, Teachers and Students,

Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year.  The summer went by so fast and here we are beginning a new academic school year.  Holy Angels School has many interesting and progressive curriculum as we continue to work on our Common Core Math and Common Core (ELA) English Language Arts.  We are launching a new Robotic program that will enhance learning especially in Math and Science.

This school year, a new theme for Catholic Schools is “Catholic Schools: Learn. Serve. Lead. Succeed.” encompassing the core products and values that can be found in Catholic schools across the country. Not only are we teaching students to become future servant leaders, faith-filled disciples and enriched citizens in our communities, we, as educators, are growing with them. In Catholic schools, we are all learners, servants and leaders of the God who loves us. These shared qualities are what make Catholic schools work. They are what make Catholic schools succeed.

The official CSW logo brings the theme to life. The open book made up of multi-colored pages symbolizes how all areas of Catholic schools blend together, with faith — symbolized by the cross — at the forefront. Catholic schools are vibrant, dynamic and excellent.  Let us join in prayer to make this school year faith-filled and successful as we work together in unity.

Sincerely yours in Jesus and Mary,

Sr. Leonarda Montealto, OP.

Catholic Schools Week

PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

As we begin the year 2017 I pray that “the Lord will bless you and keep you.  May the Lord let His face shine upon you and be gracious to you.  May the Lord look kindly upon you and give you peace.”
The Book of Numbers 6:24-26

We have begun this Year of Our Lord 2017 with gratitude for our many blessings and faith in the fine work being accomplished by everyone in our Holy Angels School Family.  I pray this New Year brings you health, happiness, and success in all you do.

During the month of January and every day, we will continue to search for Christ in our everyday lives and to celebrate each opportunity we have to come to know Jesus in a special way.

Our school and parish family will celebrate with Catholic Schools Week starting on Sunday, January 25 with our OPEN HOUSE.  The parents and students ambassadors are ready to welcome our guests to tour our school and view a variety and quality students’ work.  The parents prepare delicious refreshments for everyone.

On Monday, January 26th, we celebrate our Grandparents.  They are our special guests and it is a pleasure to pray and have fun with them after our prayer service in church.

On Tuesday, January 27th, is a day dedicated to our students.  It is a special day to affirm and appreciate the gifts and talents the Lord has given our children.  The Student Council members are coordinating the TALENT SHOW for interested students.  They are also given the opportunity to have some fun activities with their BUDDIES.

Wednesday, January 28th, we celebrate our Nation as the students wear red, white and blue and pray for peace and justice in our nation and our world.

Thursday, January 29th is a day dedicated to pray for vocation and appreciate the priests and religious as Pope Francis dedicated this year as the Year for Consecrated Life.  The Sisters and the religion teachers will reflect with students on the life of the saints and living heroes of our time.

Friday, January 30th is a special day to appreciate our Faculty, staff and volunteers of our parish and school.  The 8th Graders will be the principal, teachers and staff of the day.  The HAPAC parents are preparing a delicious lunch and the parent volunteers will take care of the students while the teachers are enjoying their lunch.

Let us continue to keep Jesus in our life, let Him be the center of your family as we keep Him as the center of our Holy Angels School community!

WELCOME TO HOLY ANGELS SCHOOL
2017-2018
We are a community of Faith, Knowledge and Service
August  2017

The theme for the National Catholic Schools for 2017-2018  is “Catholic Schools: Communities of Faith, Knowledge and Service.”  The theme encompasses several concepts that are at the heart of a Catholic education. First, schools are communities—small families in their own right, but also members of the larger community of home, church, city and nation. Faith, knowledge and service are three measures by which any Catholic school can and should be assessed.

The new logo features a swirl of colors interacting around a cross, which is at the center of all Catholic education. The vibrancy of the colors and the movement and shadows in the logo portray the inner-connectivity and community life that are present in our Catholic schools.

On behalf of the staff of Holy Angels School, I am happy to welcome you to the 2017-2018 school year! We are looking forward to a prayerful, productive partnership with you to ensure our children can achieve their highest potential.  We recognize that in order to be successful in school, our children need support from both the home and school.  We know a strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your child’s education.  As partners, we share the responsibility for our children’s success and want you to know that we will do our very best to carry out our responsibilities.  We ask that you support your child’s learning by making sure that he/she:
·      Comes to school on-time, ready for the day’s learning experience
·      Completes all homework assignments with quality
·      Read to your children daily to develop a love for reading and improve literacy skills
·      Shares school experiences with you so that you are aware of his/her school life
·      Informs you if he/she needs additional support in any area or subject
·      Knows that you expect him/her to succeed in school and in life
The faculty and staff are privileged to be partners with you.  Let us pray for a productive school year as we work together as a community where we recognize God as the center of our life.

Sincerely,
Sister Leonarda Montealto, O.P.

Summer 2013

May we be mindful of the Eternal Flame within us.  May we rely on the Source of Love to be our constant ally and steady guide.

The summer 2013 was a relaxing and productive one for me.  Hawaii is home for the Dominican Sisters where our Dominican Center is located in the island of Oahu.  I had a six-day retreat,  a wonderful time spent for the Lord.  We celebrated the Golden and Silver Jubilees of our three Sisters.  We had our Regional meetings as well as relaxing and fun time with the Sisters in the month of June.

July was spent for professional development and planning for the coming school year.  I attended a Catholic School Leadership Institute in Vallambrosa Center in Menlo Park, CA.  It was a four-day in-service spent on learning, sharing, reflecting  and planning on the themes of Principal as Spiritual Leader, Principal as Administrator and Principal as Instructional Leader and Communicator.   This gathering was attended by 31 principals, vice-principals, and future administrators of our Catholic Schools coming from different states.  Those were days of learning, getting to know others, having a relaxing time in a beautiful and quiet place of Vallambosa Retreat Center.   I also did a lot of reading and visiting with friends.  Most especially, I was able to spend more time with the Lord in prayer that gives me direction as I continue to do this ministry of teaching as a principal of Holy Angels School.

May the One who is the spirit of Christmas give you peace in your heart, joy in your days, and love in all that you share.

May we continue to give thanks for the blessings God has granted to each of our lives.  May the joy of the holidays renew our commitment to working together for a future of peace, lasting joy and love.

Once again, Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year!

Enjoying Peace in the Presence of God

Everyday is a new day for me.  I do not know what the day will bring but knowing that God is in control of my life is enough for me.  Being in-charge of many students, faculty and staff of Holy Angels School, bring my awareness of God and my need for God even stronger and more real.

It is a joy to experience that the King of Kings, Jesus my Savior, is always present in every events of my life.  What a privilege that is!!! The King is with me everyday!  Realizing this reality in my life …makes me feel really stronger, special and loved.

I am sharing my experience with you, dear friends, because we believe in the same God and King.  He loves us so much and He is there for us.  All we need to do is pause…everyday…and listen to Him in our heart.  He is just a “heart” away from you and me.
